We all want our websites ranked number one, however this is only
going to happen to one site. The rest of us are going to have to
settle for number two or lower. SEO takes time. There is no
one single quick fix that will immediately pop your site high in the
search engine results. Many aspects can affect how high or low your
site will appear in a keyword search. Each of the following aspects
needs to be performed on the website. Just doing one will not fix
your site.
~Good Content: Take the time to develop content that is
relevant to your product or service. Try to write the content
yourself and do not copy from other websites. Original content will
make other sites want to link to you and this will help improve your
site in the rankings. Make sure that your website content is natural
and easy-to-understand. Your content should also contain the keyword
phrases that you’d like your site to rank highly for.
~Links: To gain visibility in the search engines, links are
necessary. Keep in mind that links vary in quality. Using a scheme
such as link farms will not get your site noticed the right way by
search engines. Links should be relevant to your site. If your
website is high quality, extremely useful and has a lot of appeal to
your target market then the links you’re looking for will come
naturally. You can help increase the number of links by adding your
site to pertinent directories and blogs. Just remember that this
takes time and will not happen overnight. This process can take
months and to keep in mind that high ranking websites have been
online for many years.
~HTML Coding: Poor coding can make it difficult for the
search engine spiders to index your site properly. All the coding
should be validated and errors that misdirect the spiders and cause
incorrect information should be fixed.
~Keyword Research: Find relevant keyword phrases. Software
is available to make this task easier. Identify the keywords you can
realistically target based on your product or service.
~Graphics: Graphics can not be read by search engine spiders.
Try to replace as many graphics as appropriate with text. You can
also add alt. text to the graphics that remaining graphics.
~Link Text:
Make sure that the link anchor text is supported by the content of
your website. Check your title tags as well.
~Keep Working:
Search engine spiders visit your pages to see all the new changes to
your site. New content and links keeps the page fresh for the
spiders and keeps your site going up in the rankings.
~Patience:
It takes time for a new site to get picked up by the search engines
and to move up in the search engine results.
